Resins, as polymers or prepolymers of plastic substrates, play an important role in the fields of plastics, coatings and crafts manufacturing. Therefore, resin is generally used as processing materials to participate in the production of these products. Therefore, in the process of incoming inspection, resin quality inspection has become a necessary step. But there are many kinds of resins, the testing standard is not relatively perfect, so many times we will be confused about the testing items of resins. Today, we will introduce the knowledge of resin testing.
First of all, although there are many kinds of resin and miscellaneous testing standards, there are always some common testing items that can be used to evaluate the quality of resin. Such as apparent density, haze, yellowness, whiteness, swelling ratio, water content, acid value, melting point, hardness, impact strength, tensile property and so on are very common test indicators. If we want to test the production parameters of resin, we can test the melting index, viscosity, die shrinkage, melting temperature and so on.
In fact, there are many more testing items for resin. Generally speaking, the testing items can be divided into four categories, mainly including physical performance, combustion performance, thermal performance, applicable performance and other testing items. The specific test indicators are as follows:
1. Test items of physical properties of resin: apparent density, transmittance, haze, yellow index, whiteness, expansion ratio, water content, acidity and hardness
2. Test items of resin combustion performance: vertical combustion, ignition temperature, oxygen index, horizontal combustion, hot rod
3. Test items of resin thermal performance: thermal deformation temperature, thermal decomposition temperature, Vicat softening point, high and low temperature impact, glass transition temperature, melting temperature
4. Test items of resin applicability: conductivity, corrosion resistance, low temperature resistance, hydraulic resistance, insulation, moisture permeability, food and drug safety
Testing items are the key points of resin testing, but it is the premise to find out the products suitable for resin testing. The following six categories are suitable for resin testing.
1. Testing products of plastic raw material resin: PVC, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyethylene, polytetrafluoroethylene, polycarbonate, ABS resin, polyamide, polyurethane, epoxy resin, polyethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate, polyaryl ester, phenolic resin, copolyformaldehyde resin, Polyamide 1010 resin, polycarbonate and other resins
2. Alkyd resin testing products: alkyd resin for industrial baking paint, alkyd resin for air drying paint, alkyd resin for polyurethane paint, alkyd resin for nitrocellulose paint, alkyd resin for polyester paint, alkyd resin for high performance polyester paint, alkyd resin for industrial amino baking paint
3. Epoxy resin and supporting testing products: General bisphenol A epoxy resin, flame retardant brominated epoxy resin, heat-resistant phenolic epoxy resin, epoxy active diluent, waterborne epoxy resin, alicyclic amine curing agent, epoxy ester resin, epoxy resin curing agent
4. Amino resin testing products: butylated amino resin, methylether amino resin, urea formaldehyde resin, mixed etherified amino resin, polyurethane curing agent, general curing agent, quick drying curing agent, trimer curing agent, moisture curing (prepolymer) curing agent, low free TDI Polyurethane series curing agent
5. Acrylic resin testing products: thermoplastic acrylic resin, thermosetting acrylic resin, acrylic resin for wood paint, solvent based acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive, thermoplastic acrylic resin for wood, rattan paint, acrylic tree and hydroxy acrylic resin for solvent based exterior wall paint
6. Saturated polyester resin testing products: alkyd resin, light curing resin and its monomer for automobile paint and general industrial baking paint, epoxy acrylate, polyurethane acrylate, amino acrylate, monomer (six functional monomers), monomer (three functional monomers), monomer (dual functional monomers), monomer (single functional monomers)
